START IT - Connecting with each other

- When you were a child and you thought about God, what image would come to mind for you? What did
- God “look” like in your own mind?
- At this point in your life, what are some words (give us at least three) that you would use to describe God?
STUDY IT - John 1:1-14
- Read John 1:1-14 out loud. What stands out for you in this passage?
- Why does this Gospel begin “In the beginning” rather than at Jesus birth?
- What facts about “the Word” can you find in verses 1-5 and verses 10-14?
- What kinds of images come to mind for you when we read The Message translation of v14: “The Word
- became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.”
- How would someone who is “full of grace and truth” (v14) treat others?
- How do you think the “grace and truth” of God is connected to the sentness of God?
LIVE IT - Applying the truth of Scripture to life
- How has God sent himself into your life?
- If we truly believe that God is a God who sends himself out, what kinds of adjustments might we make in our lives?
- Based on our discussion, what is one way that you could adjust your life this week?
PRAY IT
- Application: Ask God to help you apply today’s passage to your life.
- Joys and Challenges: What joys and challenges are you facing this week?
- Here at Northminster: Pray for all of the small groups, that God would reveal himself in new ways to every person who is in a group.
- Beyond Northminster: Pray for CCSA, that God would provide for them what they need to serve those in need, and that those in need would be blessed by CCSA’s ministry.
