Wow, is anyone else amazed that it is May? We have one more month of preschool and then it is Summer Fun! The school year goes until June 22, 2010. We will have our all school picnic on June 23, 2010 at Lindberg Park. There will be more information next month.
We have our fourth annual Art Celebration night on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Please feel free to bring your camera! Your children have been working hard the past couple of months in preparation for our celebration. It is an event you won’t want to miss! Make sure you save time to tour all of the classrooms. This gives you an opportunity to see what the other classrooms are like and who the teachers are that make Northminster Preschool so special.
We are asking all parents during the Art Show to please supervise all of your children at all times. The teachers will be in the classrooms and Korin and I will be roaming from class to class so there will be no preschool supervision on the playground.
We need raffle ticket volunteers to help sell raffle tickets the week of May 10, 2010. We will need 5 ticket sellers, one for each day of the week. If you are able to help out, please let us know in the preschool office. Thank you!
We have added a new element to our Art Celebration this year. We will be selling raffle tickets the week before the Art Show for each classroom. The children have all participated in creating a “special” art project just for their class to be given away the evening of the Art Show. Make sure you buy your tickets before the Art Show so you have a chance to win your classroom project! We are excited about this event, so please join us!
The preschool will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2010 in observance of Memorial Day. Also, please keep an eye open for the Summer Fun letter and room assignments. Those letters will be going home on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 and Thursday, June 3, 2010.
We will have a memory tile painting day on Thursday, June 3, 2010 for your children to do a memory tile for our playground wall. If you are leaving us this year, it is a great way to leave a little piece of your child with us that we can remember them by! Each tile is $25.00 and the proceeds go to the preschool. This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Preschool Parent Group. A former parent, Karen Hughes will be at the preschool to help your child paint the tile.
We also have a surprise for our parents at the end of each school year and we will need some volunteers for this. If you are able to volunteer on either Wednesday, May 26, 2010 or Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. we would appreciate it. We need three volunteers on Wednesday and two on Thursday. Please contact the preschool office if you are able to help us out on either of those days.
We will be holding a food drive this month for CCSA. They have requested cans of pork and beans, boxes of macaroni and cheese, any canned fruit or vegetables and tooth paste and/or tooth brushes. If you have the ability to contribute any of these items to our food drive, we will have boxes outside the classrooms the entire month of May. Thank you in advance for your continued support of this important cause. CCSA feeds those people in the Clairemont Community only, who are in need of extra assistance.
Vacation Bible School registration is still open but filling up quickly. If you would like to participate in this fun event (run by our own Korin McCoy) please go to the church website at www.northminstersandiego.com click on the Vacation Bible School icon where you can download the registration form.
