Sign Up for Small Groups!
As many of you know, small groups will begin the week of October 5 and run for eight weeks until the week of November 23 (the week of Thanksgiving).
Why join a small group? Several reasons.
- This will be a great way for you to get to know some other people in our church that maybe you didn’t know as well before. And even if you do know some in your group well, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know them even better!
- Since the groups will be discussing the sermon each week, your group will be a place where you can ask questions, offer ideas, and discuss how what we learned on Sunday can be applied to real life.
- You’ll a have a support group—a group of people who will be praying for you every week. And who couldn’t use more prayer?!
Click here for more information about Small Groups at Northminster.
Click here for a list of group times and locations.
I look forward to seeing what God will do as we take this opportunity to grow in our faith together!

An Amazing Week of Vacation Bible School!
What an amazing week this has been here at Northminster! All year long I’d been hearing about how great Vacation Bible School is each summer. And now I’ve finally experienced it for myself! I’ve worked with VBS at several churches in the past and I can honestly say that this has been one of my best VBS experiences ever!
There are two things that made this VBS week so great for me—the kids and the volunteers.
It was so wonderful to have this campus overrun with little kids for a whole week! I was thinking about why it’s so great to be surrounded by little kids, and I think it’s because kids remind us about what’s really important. When they’re asked what they’re thankful for, they don’t say things like, “My new car” or “My big screen HDTV.” Instead, kids will say things like, “Playing with my mom and dad,” “Hugging my grandma and grandpa,” and “Playing with my friends.”
What I’m finding is that kids haven’t been around long enough to let our world distort their priorities. Yes, we taught the kids about Jesus this week—but they taught us a whole lot about what’s really important in life!
The volunteers also made it a terrific week for me! It was so exciting to arrive on Monday morning and see so many people wearing their green Power Lab t-shirts! I couldn’t believe how many people—of all ages—were there and were excited to love on these kids for the whole week!
So I want to say thank you to all of the volunteers who worked so hard this week. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God has done some amazing things through each one of you in the lives of these little ones. Because of you, Jesus words came true this week: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Christian Education
November 25th begins a 4 week Advent series titled “God Among Us” in the Fireside Room. These classes are open to everybody and are held here at the church on Sundays in the Fireside Room between the hours of 12:00 and 1:00 p.m.. Here is how this class is described…
From the opening words of the first chapter of Genesis to the end of the book of Revelation, the Bible reveals a God with a passion to live in the midst of and journey along side creation. By forming humanity in the Divine Image and drawing us into covenant, God calls us and by grace enables us to live as His reconciling Presence in the world, transforming all creation into the reign of heaven on earth. During the four Sundays in Advent, we will explore historical (creation and prophets, Jesus Christ) and contemporary witnesses (us!). We will reflect on God’s presence among us in Word and Sacrament.
